  Reaching Out to Hawai’i Judges

AAP

Reaching members of the judiciary is an important part of our mission. Judges are in a unique position to observe impaired attorneys and to confidentially refer them to AAP. However, judges are just as susceptible to alcoholism, addiction, depression, stress disorders, and other impairments. AAP is a member of the ABA CoLap Judicial Assistance Initiative that can help provide resource once a member of the Judiciary reaches out for help. While word of mouth in the judiciary is helpful, it is not a reliable way to get AAP’s message out to judges. It is important for AAP to continually familiarize the judiciary with AAP and provide them with accessibility to our program for themselves or when making referrals.
